Frequently Asked Questions

Why Saxon curriculum?

Saxon mathematics uses a continuous spiral introduction method that is asks the student to constantly practice all that they have learned to date. This method of constant repetition with each lesson ensures a greater retention and better understanding of the algebraic concepts. Students have the opportunity to fully understand why mathematics works the way it does and to see all the rules and concepts applied in a variety of ways that re-emphasizes and validates all they have learned. As a result students who master the Saxon curriculum tend to do better on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT as well as retain an understanding of mathematics and algebraic concepts well into their adult years. It is the most thorough, most retained, and most easily instructed mathematics program produced.

How do I login?

You will receive an email within 2-3 days with instructions to log in to your account, reset your password, and enter your settings. The email will be from JupiterEd our tutoring software system. You may also watch the below video for step by step instructions.

What if my student struggles?

Help is available if a student struggles with a particular problem or concept. The student can message the instructor through the lesson system and receive a walk through video explaining the concept or problem more thoroughly. If a student is consistently struggling, however, they may need to be moved to a lower level algebra. Sometimes is is better to take a step back and gain better understanding and confidence before moving forward. Age and grade are not indicators of understanding and mastery. It is OK for a 9th grader to take Pre-algebra if that is where they are. Pushing them into a higher level based on their grade or age will not help them succeed, quite the opposite. Allow them to move through the material at their own pace, but do not let them stagnate.

Do you have an offline version?

The recommendation for those who want to do this curriculum offline would be to purchase the appropriate level Saxon mathematics and do the course on your own. You may use the links to the books on the registration page for the correct level and begin at your own pace. If you need help with the instruction, I provide the pre-recorded lessons on my youtube channel. They are listed by subject and by lesson number for easy reference whether you need help teaching a particular lesson or want your student to watch all of them. These are the same videos that are used for the subscription.
